Consider the following addressing scenarios as a guide as to how to set up your contact records, default addresses, mailing preferences and households.
Scenario |
thankQ record setup |
Relationship/Addressing options |
Keith Murray is married to Janice Murray and they have two teenage children, Lachlan and Gemma. Lachlan lives at home, but Gemma has her own unit. All 4 family members donate to your organisation individually. |
•Set up contact records for each family member. •Enter the Murray family home address on Keith’s record. •Enter Gemma’s address on her record. |
•Set up family relationships between all family members. •Place Janice and Lachlan into Keith’s Household. •Gemma has a relationship with the family members but is not part of the household. |
Same as above but Keith is now working for Highfliers Pty Ltd and he wants his receipts sent to his business address. Highfliers Pty Ltd also donates to your organisation and other employees also donate. |
•Set up contact records for Highfliers Pty Ltd and for the other employees who donate. |
•Create an employee/employer relationship between Keith and Highfliers Pty Ltd. •Because Keith already has an established household you would not use the Highfliers Pty Ltd address as a default address for Keith. •Create a Receipt Mailing Preference using the Highfliers Pty Ltd address. •On the Relationship tab, click on Highfliers, click the cog and specify this contact’s address as a mailing preference |
Using the same household as above, Janice Murray is employed by DressRight Pty Ltd. She would like her invitations sent to her work address. DressRight Pty Ltd does not donate to your organisation. |
•You do not need to set up any additional contact records. |
•Set up DressRight Pty Ltd as a business address on Janice’s Addresses tab. •Create an Invitation Mailing Preference to use the Business Address. |
Note: When you set a default address, thankQ will automatically set up a household with the holder of the default address as the head of household.
