Source and destination codes provide a facility for tracking money that is received and processed by your organisation. For example, if you are running an event, you will want to know exactly how much money was raised. You may also have specific projects that you will direct that money to.
In this situation, Source Codes can be used to track which event raised the money and Destination Codes can be used to identify what projects the funds were allocated to. In this way, you can accurately report on your event.
Source and Destination Codes need to be configured before you use any of the modules of thankQ that involve the raising or allocating of funds. This includes events, donations, pledges, memberships, sponsorships, bequests and grants.
New Source Codes are usually created for every new Campaign/Event so these can be tracked easily. Whereas the same Destination Codes are, in most cases, associated to the new Source Codes as the funds are more than likely being used for the same purpose. Memberships, Sponsorships, Merchandise would stay static. Your organisation may also have a static Source Code for any Donations.
Source and Destinations can be reported on by Type. Reporting on Type rather than the actual Source Codes themselves will allow you to report on grouped Source Codes eg Regular Giving, Events, Donations, Appeals, Projects etc.
