How to Use Bulk Merge Contacts

Make sure you have run the Data Dupe Report.

If you have automation, once you have added the duplicate records into the bulk load the merging can be activated as an overnight process. If you do not have automation it is recommended to start this process at a time when users are not on the system as it may slow other features being used at the same time.

1.Click Bulk Merge Contacts under the Data Tools Module.

2.Click Load on tool bar.

A spread sheet opens where you can copy the master serial number and duplicate serial numbers for merging. Please note that it is recommended that you limit the merging to 1,000 contacts at a time.

3.Click View on the tool bar of one of the spreadsheets and click Arrange All to Horizontal so you can work with both spreadsheets at the same time.

It may help to turn on the Data Filter and filter the different columns depending on the data.

4.Highlight the serial number that is to be the master and Ctrl C to copy and then Ctrl V to paste into the relevant field in the merge spreadsheet.

5.Repeat working through the spreadsheet adding the master and duplicates. Remember to keep the contacts to 1,000.

6.Click Log on the spreadsheet or click Log Data on the tool bar of the Bulk Merge Contacts form. If you click Log Data from the form make sure you have clicked into the merge spreadsheet to make sure this spreadsheet is the one in focus.

7.Click OK to confirm the number of entries.
