BARCODE SCANNING

Scroll Prev Top Next More

Barcode scanners in conjunction with barcodes can be used to automate the entry of data into thankQ.

Barcodes are normally added to word templates and will have an action (known as the Barcode Purpose) that will be performed when the barcode is scanned.  This action could be to record a donation, mark a contact as do not mail, book a person onto an event or renew a membership.

Once the letters are merged, the barcode will contain the unique Serial Number for each thankQ contact as well as the Barcode Purpose.   When the barcode is scanned, the action will be performed for the specific contact serial number that is embedded within the barcode.

For example, if the barcode purpose is to record a donation, the scanning of the barcode will create a new payment automatically. The contact serial number will be entered automatically along with the source and destination code.  All the user needs to do is enter the amount and the payment method.
