A grant refers to funding for specific purposes that is made available by governments, trusts, foundations, clubs, sporting bodies and other organisations.

For example, grant funds may be used for the welfare of children, to protect the environment or for particular pieces of equipment. Anyone applying for the grant must demonstrate that they will comply with specific conditions and use the funds for the intended purpose.
